  • Simple fracture:The bone is broken but the skin is intact.
  • Compound fracture:(open fracture) the broken ends of the bone sticks out through the skin.

-Minerals are deposited into the cartilage (calcium phosphate). The cartilage becomes ossified (turned into bone).
