Q
What are the steps in finding the dew point temperature?
1.
2.
3.
4.
5.
A
  1. Plot Ws for the starting point
  2. use the RH to determine W i.e. if RH is 50% then W is half of Ws
  3. draw a line following the dry adiabat from the start point (Ws) to whatever value of W you found.
  4. from this point go back down the Ws line till you reach the reference pressure.
  5. the temperature at this point is the dew point temp

Q

How do you find the LCL?

A

The point at which W = RH*Ws (found in step 3 of dew point temperature)

Q

What are the steps to find equivalent potential temperature?
1.
2.
3.

A
  1. follow the moist adiabat from the LCL to the when its parallel with the dry adiabat (no moisture left)
  2. follow the dry adiabat back down to reference pressure
  3. This point is the equivalent potential temperature.

Q

how can the process used to find potential temperature be used to find the temperature after Orographic lifting?

A

Same steps but only to the height of the mountain not to the parallel point (assuming it rained out)
