Pustules
A
- small elevation of the skin filled with pus ( bacterial infection)
- known as a pimple
- often associated with oily or combo skin and may appear close to or during the menstrual cycle

- usually painful
- known as blind pimple
- often associated with oily or combo skin or may appear close to or during the menstrual cycle

- occur when sebum becomes trapped in the follicle by dead skin cells
- known as blackhead
- colour is a result of oxidation
- main cause is due to excess keratinisation
- often associated with combo or oily skin but may also occur as a result of a lack of exfoliation

A
- usually has high colouring ( often found in cheek area) and often associated with dry skin
- skin is fragile, thin, lacks natural lipids and is easily irritated
- easily flushed
- skin feels warm to the touch and dilated capillaries are evident on cheek area
- highly reactive to cosmetic preparations ( itching, flaking, reddening or flushing )
- associated with fair skin and red haired

Treatment of sensitive skin
A
- avoid irritation of the skin by not using products containing alcohol, fragrancesactive and the use of hypo-allergenic products is advisable
- try and identify the sensitivities and avoid products like this
- aim to reduce inflammation and strengthen the skins immunity, reduce signs of redness
