skin, ligaments and tendons Flashcards
(30 cards)
what are the different layers?
simple- 1 layer
stratified- more than 1 layer
pseudostratisfied- 1 layer all different hight and widths
what is epithetical tissues?
it is the tissue that covers all exposed surfaces of the body and lines major organs, blood vessels and cavities.
what is connective tissue?
its made from cells fibres and extractualr matrix its role is to support, protect, and gives structure to other tissues
what are examples of general tissues?
cartilage, bone, blood
what are examples of loose tissues?
areolar, adipose
what are examples of dense tissues?
ligaments and tendons
what is areolar?
all over the body and is found between the skin and the muscle
what is cartilage?
it connects the ribs to make up the nasel passage and can be found on end of bones and prevents breakdown of that bone
bones what do they do?
it produces blood cells and it frames the horse it stores minerals strengthens and allows movement to take place
what does blood do?
carries oxygen, and red and white blood cells
what do ligaments do?
it helps to hold bones together, stabilises the muscle and bones.
what does adipose do?
stores energy
what do tendons do?
connects muscle to bone and allows movement
what is melocytes?
produces the pigment melanin gives hair and skin its pigement.
blood vessels
carries nutrients, discard waste
sweat glands
tubular glands, small reduces in body temperature
what does hair follicles do?
sebaceous gland, arrector pill muscle helps regulates temperature, and enhance sensation
what do leukocytes do?
engulf and digest harmful substances
what do T cells do?
helps the body kill cancers and control the immune system responses for foreign substances
what do B cells do?
produces and antibody to fight any antigens
what are two cells in the epidermic layer?
keratinocytes
meranocytes
what type of tissue is bone?
connective tissue
what are 4 types of bones?
long bone- femur/cannon
irregular bone-vertabrae
short bone- coffin bone/pastens
flat bone- scapula/cranium
what are osteoclasts?
break down old or damages bones
