Let’s Jam!!
Alisha/Count Basie: That is pretty cool music Tyler I can see why you like it. But you know, all that kind of music has its roots in the music we all play…
How is that?
Mary Lou: This custom of story telling through music, found its way into the story telling traditions of the old south. Then found its way into the music of the blues. Later it became part of the platter of bebop jazz and today’s rap.
Excuse me Count Dracula…
Count Basie: That’s Basie
Yeah yeah whatever, I guess I don’t really know what jazz is.
Tyler: That makes two of us and I certainly don’t know what everyone is so excited about
So Count Lazy…What’s jazz
Duke Ellington: You might as well ask what’s swing?
Well??
Ma Rainy: It all began back in the days of slavery when the rhythmic music of west Africa mixed with the songs of the new world to make a whole new sound
Oh I see! So jazz is that music that the slaves sang as they worked in the fields
Ala: Can you teach us to sing the blues miss holiday?
Yeah miss holiday teach us to sing the blues!

No kidding,Mr Joplin….Blues, soul, Dixieland, ragtime? That’s all jazz?
Courtney: Yes but other than Bessie smith and Billie holiday, it seems like all of the big names in jazz are men.
Yeah aren’t there any women who are big in jazz
Ella Fitzgerald: A tiskit a tasked a pink and yellow basket
Ella Fitzgerald…. Of coarse!
