what does the overheat system in the RH engine provide?
an overheat warning if an overheat occurs in hotel mode
what are the cargo compartments have?
photoelectric smoke detectors
where is the lavatory fire extinguisher?
waste bin
where is the avionics compartment smoke detector?
between the avionics compartment and extract fan
where are the 3 halon fire extinguishers?
1 in the flight deck

When will the right nacelle overheat detection create a warning?
when RH nacelle temperature goes above 170C
if we get a RH OVHT during taxi due to a tailwind, what should we do?
incrase power slightly. if the warning persists after 30 seconds shut the engine down
if we get a RH OVHT what should we do?
power lever to idle
condition lever to feather and then fuel shutoff
how does each detection loop work?
nickel core coated with a salt based layer
salts changes resisatnce with temp changes meaning current through the nickel core increases
when will the FDCU trigger a fire warning?
a low resistance and high capacitance in both fire loops
what should we do if we get a loop fault?
deselect the affected loop
can the loop detect a fire with a break in it?
yes, but only with 1 break
what else can trigger a fire warning?
increase in compartment temperature due to something like a bleed leak
what does the engine fire extinguishing system consist of?
2 halon fire bottles. one on each side of fuelage
what is the squib?
a pyrotechnic charge which is electrically detonated
what will display when a bottleis discharged?
AGENT 1 or 2 DISCH
what powers the ENG FIRE handles?
DC EMER BUS
what 6 things will pulling on the fire handle do?
- arms the squibs
- closes he bleed and HP bleed valves
- closes the pneumatic de ice isolation valves
- trips the DC and ACW generators
- closes the LP fuel valve
- runs electric feather pump to feather the prop
why should we shut the engine down with the condition lever before pulling the fire handle?
closing the LP fuel valve may collapse the fuel line preventing future restart
when will the red light in the condition lever extinguish?
when a fire is no longer detected
after fuel is shutoff
what does the fire fault test do?
tests the systems ability to detect fire and fault signals
what will display on a succesful engine fire test?
illuminated handle
condition lever red fuel SO light
