Loging to the Portal-Payroll and Bookkeping

A

Logging into the Portal
T (SaS and BA) can access the Small Business Services Referral Portal in two ways through DNA:

Once logged into DNA, select Applications, selecting “S” and scrolling down to “Small Business Services Referral.”
Once logged into DNA, search for Small Business Services. Once there, select “Bookkeeping & Payroll Referrals.”

Tax Preparer Referral Dashboard

A

After launching the portal from DNA, Tax Preparers will be directed to a Referral Dashboard. ​The dashboard is the Tax Preparer’s personal dashboard where they can easily view every referral they’ve submitted.

Client Consent Screen

Client Consent Screen
For each referral, we require Tax Preparers to confirm their client consented to have another H&R Block Associate, (an Account Manager) contact them to discuss additional services.

Tax Preparers are required to read the text on this screen to their client and if the client agrees, click Confirmed to move to the New Referral Submission Form.

Preparers should follow the process below, in order, when completing the form. Referral submission form

Preparers should follow the process below, in order, when completing the form.

Select the dropdown at the top left to select the state their office is located in.

Search for the Office ID of the office that should receive credit for the referral if converted to a paid return.

If the Tax Preparer selects the wrong office ID, they’ll need to open up the dropdown and click the “X” next to the current selection to clear it before selecting a new office ID.

Once the office is selected, the district, region, and market IDs will auto populate.
Input the business name, then the client’s first and last name, e-mail address, and phone number.
For preferred contact, use the dropdown to select e-mail or phone.
Select the state of operation for the client.
For business structure, you’ll choose from four options:
Sole Proprietor (Sch C)
service options, you’ll choose from three options:
Bookkeeping
Payroll
Bookkeeping and Payroll
The last field is client readiness level. Here, you’ll choose from the following:
Needs service now
Needs service in the future
Seeking additional information
If the Tax Preparer would like to leave a comment, they can add notes in the comment box.
Next to comments, the Tax Preparer should indicate if they are the Tax Preparer of record. If so, check the box. If not, the box can be left unchecked.
Click “Submit” to submit the referral.

Making S corporation ELection

cannot file if Sole Proprietor without incorporating

A corporate name is selected in compliance with state law.
Formal paperwork, usually called articles of incorporation, is filed with the Secretary of State.
The members of the initial board of directors are selected.
Organizational meetings are held to make decisions about policies and procedures, called bylaws. Stock certificates are issued.
Apply for an employer identification number (EIN).

Completing Form 2553, Part I
Part I begins with the name and address of the corporation. This section also includes boxes to report the corporation’s EIN, the date incorporated, and the state of incorporation.

The next portion of Part I reports any name or address changes since the EIN was issued, the beginning of the tax year when the election is to take place, the tax year of the corporation, a box to check when family members are considered one shareholder, the officer or legal representative contact for the IRS, and a place to explain a late election when necessary.

The final item for page 1 of Form 2553 is the signature of an officer of the corporation, their title, and the date signed.
