1.APPLY PRESSURE IMMOBILSATION CREPE
-apply firmly to whole limb from toes to above knww, and split
2.wound care
-no wound care
-take venom sample for venom detection kit
-pressure appropriate to sprained ankle
3.apply splint
-attache splint to bandaged leg immobilising foot and knee
4. Emergency equipment
-llok for oxygen and em equipment

When to Use antivenom

A

PRESENCE OF SIGNS AND SYMPTOMS
ENVENOMATION
HAPPENS IN PRRESENCE OF OBSERVATION IN HOSPITAL WITH VENTIALTORY SUPPORT AND CIRCULATORY SUPPORT AVAILABLE
-initial symptoms: headache, nausea, vomiting
-later LOC, circulatory collapse, Muscle paralysis, coagulation disturbance
SIGNGS
-intial signs of muscle weakness: diplopia, local muscle paralysis>leading to breathing difficulties>apmnoea
-haematologic: local and systemic bleeding
-system toxicity>renal and multiorgan failure

choice of antivenom

A

-unidentified snake:
Polyvalent antovenom
vic/tas -tiger and brown snake combined
-if identified specific antivenom preferred

how to use antivenom

A

-prior to using antivenom give sc adrenaline 0.25mg adult, 0.01/ml/kg child
-5min after give antivenom IV diluted 1;10 with hartmann sol
Prepration for EM
-keep loaded syringes of adrenaline, antihistamine,oxygen and rescucitation facilities at hand
-after observing reactions to first antivenom>give 2 o more ampules as infused intravenously
