Soc 16: The Structure Of Blood Vessels Flashcards
(13 cards)
Vena carve function
A large vein that carries blood to the heart from the other areas of the body.
Right atrium function
Receives oxygen-poor blood from the body and pumps it to the right ventricle
Tricuspid valve function
To control the blood flow of blood from your hearts top chamber to the bottom chamber
Right ventricle function
Pumps blood low in oxygen to the lungs
Pulmonary valve function
Enabling the deoxygenated blood to be pumped from the right ventricle to the pulmonary circulation
Pulmonary artery function
Carry oxygen-poor blood from your heart to your lungs
Pulmonary vein function
Carry oxygen-rich blood from your lungs to your heart
Left atrium function
Receives oxygen-rich blood from the lungs and pump it to the left ventricle.
Bicuspid valve function
Allows blood to flow from the left ventricle to the aorta and prevents blood from flowing backward
Left ventricle function
Pump oxygenated blood to the body
Aortic valve function
Allow blood to leave the heart from the left ventricle through the aorta and the body
Aortic valve function
Delivers nutrients and hormones
Septum function
Helps the heart pump blood efficiently by preventing it from flowing back into the heart chambers
