- What are the types of construction drawings?
Orthographic
Pictorial
- How many view of an OBJ are there?
There are six.
Top, Front, Bottom, Right side, Left side, back
- What are the three main orthographic view?
Top (as seen from above) - Plan View: Foundation, Floor, ceiling, Plumbing, Electrical Plans Front - Main Elevation, Section Right Side - Elevation, Section
- What are the types of pictorial drawings?
Isometric (Most common type of pictorial drawing)
Oblique
Perspective
- What are the Isometric angles?
30 and 60 degree
- What is the oblique angle?
45 degree
- What is characteristic of Isometric?
It is dimensionally accurate along both angles and most common type of pictorial drawing
- What is characteristic of Oblique?
All lines are dimensionally correct. Elevation is drawn looking straight at the object.
- What is different about perspective?
Not dimensionally correct. Vanishing points
- What are the special views?
Section (most common)
- Gives a clear picture of the inside or hidden features of an object
Details
- Do not have cutting plane indication but are noted with a code
Exploded view
- Used to show the assembly or disassembly of an object that has several removable parts (Ex. Ikea furniture)
- What are the two common scale rulers?
Architect and Engineer
- What is purpose of architect ruler?
Architect ruler mainly used for building construction. It measures feet and inches.
- What is purpose of engineer ruler?
Normally used for site plans. It measures feet and tenths of a foot.
- What are the two North?
1) True North
Orients the drawing to actual North
2) Job North
Orients the person to the BLDG. based on site access.
- What is BOM stand for?
Bill of Materials
- What is CL stand for on a blueprints?
Center Line
- Which plan is the only plan to show true north?
Site plan
- What are construction drawings?
The written language of a building. Drawings detail the building components and materials of construction
- How high is the floor plan cut?
4’ above the floor
- What are the two types of symbols?
Architectural and material
- What is the most common special view?
Section
- What is visible lines?
Heavy, unbroken lines. Used to indicate visible edge of an OBJ
- What is hidden lines?
Medium line with short, evenly spaced dashes. Used to indicate concealed edges.
- What is center lines?
Thin lines made up of long and short dashes alternately spaced and consistent in length.
