CONFLICT
the minority shows th eocnflict between their view and the majoritys creating social competition. This shows they have a different stance to the majority making others think about the differences

This allows them to be taken more seriously as a grouop over a period of time
whats the 4th step to social change and how does it lead to social change
AUGMENTATION PRINCIPLE
When there are risks involved for the minority the majority takes them more seriously as the minority are willing to sacrifice something for their cause.
whats the 5th step to social change and how does it lead to social change
Snowball Effect
This is how social change happens. As one person defects from the majority to join minority others will dollow, as more join it decreases pressures to conform to the majority opinion
whats the final step to social change and how does it lead to social change
Social cryptoamnesia
People remember change has occurred however, they have no memory as to why or how it happened as it simply becomes the new norm
whats a strength of social change
P: moscovicis research on minority influence supports the concept of consistency in relation to social change
E: in moscovici’s study, participants were exposed to a consistent minority (a group of people providing the same incorrect answer) and an inconsistent minority ( a group of people proving different incorrect answers) in a colour perception task
E:the results showed that the consistent minority had a more significant impact on the majority’s responses compared to the inconsistent minority
L: Moscovici’s research demonstrates the role of consistency as a key factor in the effectiveness of minority influence.
whats a limitation of social change
P: minority influence can act as a barrier to social change
E: Bashir et al investigated why so many ppl resist social change even when they believe its needed
E: it was found minority groups i.e feminists, live up to stereotypes associated with groups which can be off putting for outsiders
L: this means that the majority often doesn’t want to be associated with a minority for fear of being stereotypically labelled.
