Q
Why may a family become dysfunction?
A
- A family member may be stressed because of health problems, poor housing or income
- Poor parenting skills
- Family members may be controlling and aggressive or manipulative
- Parents neglect their children
2
Q
Parental divorce or separation
A
- Parental divorce can have a negative effect on children/adolescents as they can experience emotional problems that may affect their self esteem and self confidence leading to emotional distress, moodiness and depression.
- This could lead to risky behaviour such as smoking, taking drugs and alcohol
- Divorce and parental separation can also be seen as a relief as there is less arguing at home and therefore less stress
