It is how we process, retain and apply information about others and social situations. It influences the way we perceive ourselves and the way we relate to others. It is how we make sense of the world.

It is a survival mechanism that helps us recognize friend or foe.

The tendency to notice unique physical features.
It tends to focus on the most obvious points rather than noting background information. Survival instinct.
