Families that are at risk of social exclusion?
One parent families who have low income.
What is Social exclusion?
Social exclusion is when people in poverty are excluded from social society. Such as their access to education, health and housing.
What is unemployed?
Unemployed is when a person does not have a job.
What does poverty affect?
Education/training, employment, Healthy Lifestyle, housing/homelessness.
What are consequences of poverty?
Physical ill health, social exclusion, mental and physical inequality in education, poor housing, addiction problem, homelessness.
What is social mobility?
Social mobility is when people move up social class.
Why does defining social class matter?
The government puts into a category to see what’s needed.
What factors can determine social class?
How much money you earn, where you live and education.
What model is used to define social class?
The register general is used to determine social class.
(The welfare state) what are the five evils?
Squalor, idleness, disease, ignorance, want (silly insects dance in wigs)
What is squalor?
Bad living conditions.
What is idleness?
Lack of jobs (unemployment)
What is disease?
Health care (lack of health care)
What is ignorance?
Education (lack of education)
What is want?

Education act (1944)
School leaving age drops to 15 and free secondary were introduced. Pupils took the II plus to determine wether they went to grammar school, secondary modern or technical school.
Town and country planning act (1947)
Council housing,meet a target to build 300,000 new houses a year and 1.2 million council houses were built between 1945-1951.
New town act (1948)
Authorized building of new towns such as Glenrothes.
Children act (1948)
To provide good housing and care for all children who are deprived of a normal home life.
Marshall act (1948)
The gov. Used this to get industries going by nationalized the road haulage, railways and coal industries in 1947 and steel in 1951.
