A

when an observer associates themselves with a role model and wants to be like a role model

Q

modelling

A

From the observer’s perspective, modelling is imitating the behaviour of a role model. From the role model’s perspective, modelling is the precise demonstration of a specific behaviour that may be imitated by an observer.

8
Q

what are the assumptions of the social learning theory?

A

Bandura agreed with the behaviourist, however, he proposed a different way in which people learn observation, and imitation of others, indirectly learning

Q

Bobo doll study

A

BANDURA recorded the behaviour of young children who watched an adult behave in an aggressive way towards a doll
adult hit the doll with a hammer and shouted abuse at it
children behaved much more aggressively towards the doll in this condition than those who had observed a non-aggressive adult
Illustrates observational learning and imitation

repeated they study showed videos to children of adult behaving aggressively towards the doll
one group saw adult being praised
one group saw adult being punished
third group saw no consequences
when given their own doll first group showed much more aggression followed by the third group and then the second
illustrates vicarious reinforcement

Q

Role of mediational processes

A

Cognitive factors that influence learning and come between stimulus and response
Focuses on how mental factors are involved in learning these men to intervene in the learning process to determine whether in your response is acquired

16
Q

strengths of slt

A

P - scientific
E - focuses on observable and measurable so it is controlled
E - Bandura’s research was highly controlled so easy to measure
L - supported by evidence

17
Q

limitation of slt

A

P - based on young children
E - bobo doll study - have high demand characteristics
E - main purpose was to strike it - maybe acting
L - theory may be based on followed evidence
