latitude
Latitude are imaginary lines that are called parallels. They cross West to East and measures North and South
longitude
longitude are imaginary lines that are called meridians. They cross North to South and measures East and Weast.
Equator
A imaginary line that divides the Earth into the northern and sothern hemisphears. Also it runs from Weast to East.
Prime meridian
A imaginary line that divides the Earth into the eastern and weastern hemisphears.
International date line
A “ line of demarcation ” separating two consecutive calendar dates. The International Date Line is located at about 180° east (or west). It is halfway around the world from the prime meridian (0°).
Interrupted-area maps
Selects land areas and interrupts ceans-closer to real proportions.
Globes
The globes are the best type of the maps, because world maps are drawn on a flat surface, they cannot show Earth’s curved surface without significant distortions. A globe is a spherical representation of a planet’s surface or another large area.
boundaries
A boundary is a border and it can be physical, such as a fence between two properties, or abstract, such as a moral boundary that society decides it is wrong to cross.
Time Zones
Every 15º of latitude, the time changes by one hour there are 24 time zones in the world, resulting in 24 hours at total.
Road maps
Roads, highways, airports, points of interest. Used for driving roads and finding destinations.
Marcator projection
Flat maps, poles are usually distorted, find coordinates.
Climate maps
Climate zones; temperature; preciptation.
Political maps
Cities, states, and countries borders,capitals; Humans-defened territories.
Toprography maps
Elevation changes; reliefs (relevos)
Resoureces/economic maps
Natural resources; economic activities.
