What is civics?
Civics is the study of what it means to be the citizen of a country.
What is equality?
Equality means that every person has something to contribute to our society.
What is a dictatorship?
A dictatorship is when one person has all the power and maintains a very rigid control over a country by force.
What is an oligarchy?
An oligarchy is a government by a small group of people similar to a dictatorship.
What is a direct democracy?
A direct democracy everyone gathers together to agree about all the laws and decisions.
What is a representative democracy?
In a representative democracy representatives are chosen to make the laws and decisions for the rest of the people.
When did the pilgrims leave the Mayflower?
November of 1620
What is the Mayflower Compact?
An agreement made by the pilgrims that “just and equal” laws would be made for the “general good of the colony.”

What is the First Amendment?
The first amendment includes freedom of religion, freedom of speech, freedom of the press, the right to assemble, and the right to petition the government.
What is the Second Amendment?
The second amendment gives americans the right to own weapons and allows them to organize state militias.
What is the Third Amendment?
The third amendment protects us from having to give room and board to soldiers without our consent.
What is the Fourth Amendment?
The fourth amendment protects us from government or law-enforcement officials searching our homes or taking our possessions without probable cause.
What is the Fifth Amendment?
The fifth amendment says that you cannot be forced to testify against yourself in court or be tried for a serious crime without evidence.
What is the Sixth Amendment?
The sixth amendment an accused person a speedy and public trial as well as being entitled to a lawyer.
What is the Seventh Amendment?
The seventh amendment says that if the value of a contract or damage is over $20, the participants have the right to have a trial by jury.
What is the Eighth Amendment?
The eighth amendment guarantees that bail for jail or fines cannot be excessively high and forbids cruel and unusual punishment.
What is the Ninth Amendment?
The ninth amandment helps protect our privacy.
