What is a primary source?
An artifact OR a written account by someone who was there.
(EX : A famous person making a biography)
What is a secondary source?
A written account by someone who was not there (EX : A person writing about ancient history)
What does then term Bias/Biased mean?
When someone prefers something over the other usually because they are on that side. (They can also act unfairly as a result)
What does reliable mean?
Someone or something you can trust (EX : A reliable source OR a reliable friend)
What is absolute location?
Exactly where something is. (EX : An address)
What is relative location?
Not exactly where something is but near. (EX : someone giving directions and they say “It’s south of…)
What is a place?
A place is something that has physical characteristics (Mountains, lakes etc..) AND human characteristics
( Language, religion, culture)
What is a region?
An area having definable characteristics but not always fixed boundaries. (EX : The middle east is a region of southwestern asia)
What is Human environment interaction?
The relationship between humans and the environment. (EX : Littering, Picking up trash, planting trees, burning fossil fuels)
What is movement?
Transportation & communication
What is a Political map?
Shows borders of cities, statelines, etc..
What is a physical map?
Shows landmarks like mountains, rivers, things u can touch.
What is a special map?
Shows roadmaps, population density, weather, things used for a special purpose.
What is a compass rose?
A compass showing directions on a map.
What is the command economy?
The government decides what can be produced and consumed.
What is the market economy?
Producers are free to decide what to produce and consumers are free to buy whatever they need or want.
What are supply and demand?
Supply : The amount of goods or services available.
Demand : The amount of goods and services people want or need.
What is opportunity cost?
The benefit you give up by choosing one thing or another.
What is scarcity?
Limited amount of resources available.
What is profit?
The money that you make over the production cost.
What is democracy?
Citizens hold political power
What are the two types of democracy?
Direct democracy : No representatives/ Citizens hold political power
Representative democracy : Citizens elect leaders.
What is a monarchy?
Where a king or queen rules the country.
What is an anarchy?
Where nobody is in control or has political power
