gender
disability

how does gender affect participation in sport
more boys/men do physical activity and sports then women, because of social stereotypes which means women usually do less competitive sports i.e yoga
however there is public support for womens teams which increase popularity
how does age affect participation
your age can affect how much freetime you have.
kids introduced to activity will do it throughout their lives most likely - therefore there is alot of funding for kids
if people are working then they priotise their job because that is where there income is coming from.
what physical changes occur as you get older
decrease flexibility
fitness decreases
vascular shunting is less efficient
injuries are more common and longer to recover from
ill health the older you get
For these reasons many people will change their type of exercise as they got older
how does socio economic group effect participation
there are financial costs in sport and this means depending on someones disposable income depends on what they participate in]
people with high disposable income are most likely to participate
and wealthier areas may have better facilities
finally sports like skiing sailing etc will have low participation from lower socio economic scale people but football will have high of both because it is cheap to participate in
how does ethnicity effect participation
minorities are limited to sports because they are stereo typically associated with certain sports.
the minorities usually have low representation in leading roles like captains
if there are professional role models from ethnic backgrounds they increase minority taking part
what is an ethnic group
a group that shares cultural traditions, religions
how does disability effect participation
government attempt to make access to all but limited coaching and qualifications and not correct facilities for disabled people
it is also hard for them to travel so decrease in participants
increase in media coverage helps increase popularity of disabled sports
what is disability
physical or mental imparement that has long term negative effect on someone carrying out normal everyday activities
