Sodium Chloride 09% Dosage ADULT

A

KVO or medication flush in Cardiac Arrest

Crush Injury: 20ml/Kg

Hypothermia: 250ml (warmed to ≈ 40°C) Max 1000ml
# Neck of femur / Sepsis / Symptomatic Bradycardia / Tachycardia - torsades de pointes: 250ml Infusion
Post-resus care: 250ml, Maintain Sys BP >100mmHg or MAP >70mmHg 

Decompression Illness / Sepsis with poor perfusion: 500ml
Shock from blood loss: 500ml. rpt 250ml to maintain Sys BP of 90-100mmHg. GCS ≤8 Sys BP @ 120mmhg

Burns: >10% TBSA consider 500ml
>25% TBSA & 1 hr from injury to ED, 1000ml

Adrenal Insufficiency / Glycaemic Emergency / Heat related emergency / Sickle cell crisis: 1000ml
Anaphylaxis & Post Partum Haemorrhage: 1000ml (Rpt X 1)
Asystole / PEA: Consider 1L fluid challenge (rpt x1)

Suspension Trauma 2L IV (maintain Sys BP >90mmHg)

Sodium Chloride 09% Dosage PAEDIATRIC

A

Glycaemic Emergency / Neonatal Resus / Sickle cell crisis: 10ml/Kg
Hypothermia: 10ml/Kg (40°C) (rpt x1)
Haemorrhagic Shock: 10ml/Kg (rpt PRN if signs of poor perfusion)

Anaphylaxis: 20ml/Kg (rpt x1)
Adrenal insufficiency / Crush Injury / Septic Shock / Suspension Trauma / Symptomatic Bradycardia: 20ml/Kg
Post-Resus Care: 20ml/Kg if persistent poor perfusion

Burns: >10% TBSA and/or >1 Hour from Injury to ED:
5 - 10 years - 250ml
>10 years - 500ml
