Soft tissue healing in trauma Flashcards
(7 cards)
what is a continuum?
primary injury with damaged tissue and disrupted blood flow process
How long does the inflammatory response phase last?
initial 2-4 days
what are three cellular mediators?
margination, phagocytosis and clotting
how to attempt to disrupt the pain/spasm cycle?
use of modalities, use of medications, use of support, immobilization
what happens during fibroblastics repair phase?
inflammation decreases, regenerative activity, scar formation, angiogenesis, network of connective tissue develop, tensile strength of the wound increases
What happens during maturation phase?
long term process, realignment of collagen fibers, wolfs law, 3 weeks to a firm, nonvascular scar, synthesis/lysis (edges of the wound blend)
muscle atrophy?
due to improper or incomplete rehabilitation process
