Solubility Flashcards
(5 cards)
What is solubility?
Mass of solute required to saturate 100g of water at a particular temperature.
What factors affect solubility?
Volume of water.
Stirring the mixture.
Temperature.
Surface area.
What is a saturated solution?
Solution in which no more solute will dissolve at that temperature.
What is the solubility of a gas?
As temperature rises, gas particles dissolved in water gain energy and become less dense. They rise and escape from surface of water.
How is solubility calculated?
Solubility = (mass of salt / mass of water added) x 100%
