Some Basic Concepts Of Chemistry PART-1 Flashcards
(7 cards)
Write about electron proton neutron
Electron: charge: -1.6x10^-19, weight: 9.11x10^-31kg.
Proton: charge: 1.6x10^-19, weight: 1.672x10^-27kg.
What do you mean by atomic number?
The number of protons present in a neutral atom of an element is known as atomic number.
What do you mean by mass number?
The sum of protons and neutron of a neutral atom of an element which give the atom its weight is known as mass number.
Name the atomic species and their properties or speacialities.
The atomic species and their speacialities:
1) Isotope:
If two atoms of an element have different mass number then they are said to be isotopes.
ex:Cl^35,Cl^37
2)Isobars:
If two atoms of different elements are said to have same mass number then they are said to be isobars.
ex:Ar^40,Ca^40
3)Isotones:
If two atoms of different elements are said to have the same number of neytrons then they are said to be istones.
ex:K,Cl
4)Isodiaphers:
If two atoms of different elements are said to have the smae number of electrons then they are said to be isodiaphers.
ex:uranium and thorium.
What do you mean by mole?
When an amount of substance are said to contain 6.023x10^23, of such entities then they are said to be a mole of such entity.
MOLE=GN.WEIGHT

What do you mean by atomicity and how would you find the number of atoms present in X moles of a substance?
Atomicity:
the number of atoms present in a molecule is known as atomicity for example Hydrogen(H2) has the atomicity of two.
Mole to NO. atoms formula:
atoms=Na X atomicity X “X”

5)Potash alum
6)Blue vitriol
7)Oil of vitriol
Name of SUB. Formula GMW
1)Sucrose C12H22O11 342
2)Glucose C6H1206 180
3)Urea NH2CONH2 60
4)Mohrs salt (NH₄)₂Fe(SO₄)₂·6H₂O 392
