many colonists were indentured servants and they could not grow enough tobacco to keep up with the plantations

Same because both had governors and elected assemblies.
Different- Virginia is a royal colony owned by a king and Maryland is a proprietary colony owned by the Calverts

Maryland passed it and gave religions to all christians in the colony

land between Coastal plains and Appalachain mountain. In back of the area settled by Europeans. Better land, less crowded and a chance to start a new life.

Why did many colonial governments make slavery legal
They needed more workers
Describe how slaves were treated
Depends on owner, often beaten and abused. Difficult to escape but some did try. Not free to speak out against slavery. Dealt with hardships by singing songs and telling stories.
How did most people in Southern Colonies make money
farmed on plantations and produced cash crops.
What were a small amount of slaves allowed to do
Buy freedom and start farms. Some bought relatives to free them.
How did the Seminole tribe help runaway slaves
Gave them food shelter. Gave them land if they gave back 1/3 of the land, dressed like Seminoles and spoke their language.
