Original Castellano is thought to be more pure. Most are spanish just has different verb forms and vocab
Él Escorial
King Felipe II/ wife/ father buried here. Giant rectangle the contains a collage a monastery, palace, library, outdoor patio. The walls contain frescos rapid water color and wet plaster paintings

Capital of Spain. 3.5 million home of royal family and spanish government. Warm dry smear little rain in winter. Palacio Real- used by King for ceremonies- lots of paintings tapestries…. La Zarzuela- King and queen live in a palace just outside the city
Modern history
After the spanish civil war, Spain remained nuetral in WWII. Francisco Franco- Dictator ruled until his death in November of 1975.
Over threw republican government( started civil war) dissolved parliament set up military dictatorship. Political parties were banned. Isolated Spain economically and culturally. Before death Spain began to catch up to the rest of the world. After his death, Juan Carlos was established as King and set up constitutional monarchy. 1992 joined EEU switched to Euro in 2002
Music
Modern - Spain likes rock and pop. Top forty includes a lot of American music
Flamenco- singing, dancing, guitar
Sardana- played at a slower tempo. Repeated patterns using 12 instruments
Jota- sung fast- drums guitars winds lyrics rhyme with songs about various topics
Muñeira- bagpipes
Royal families
Prince Felipe- first in line after father Queen Letiza 2 daughters leanar- next in line, Sofia Lives in Palacio de la Zarzuela King has only ceremonial powers
