1) Authority figures (police officers, doctors, etc.)
2) People who are older than you (in some countries, people address their parents, grandparents, aunts, etc. by "usted," but it varies depending on the culture)
3) People you aren't familiar with / have just met
4) People you want to show respect to, even if they're younger than you (ie, you would still call your boss "usted" if they're younger than you)
