Special Quadrilaterals Flashcards
(8 cards)
Parallelogram
If in a quadrilateral, one pair of sides is both congruent and parallel, then the quadrilateral is a parallelogram
Properties of a rectangle
Parallelogram, 4-sided shape, every angle is 90°, opposite sides are parallel and congruent
Properties of a square
Parallelogram, all sides are congruent, all angles are 90°, opposite sides are parallel
Properties of a rhombus
Parallelogram, all sides are congruent, opposite angles are congruent, opposite sides are parallel, diagonals bisect each other at 90°
Properties of a parallelogram
Opposite sides are parallel and congruent, opposite angles are congruent
Properties of a trapezoid
Opposite sides are parallel, midsegment of the trapezoid is the average of the two bases
M = (b1 + b2)/2
Properties of an isosceles trapezoid
Left and right sides are congruent, and they join to the bases at congruent angles
Properties of a kite
Each pair is made by 2 consecutive congruent sides that join up, the angles where the 2 pairs meet are equal, one diagonal bisects the other at 90°
