e.g UK specialises in FINANCIAL SERVICES and PHARAMACEUDICALS

A
takes place when an individual specialises in a particular task. The main job to be carried out is split into various subtasks

Advantages of specialisation
A
- Increased productivity
- resources are saved
- fewer mistakes are made - workers gain expertise
- saves time
- workers specialise in jobs to which they are best suited
- raised standard of living

Disadvantages of specialisation
A
- Continually repeating a task can become boring
- workers may take less pride in their work
- workers will find it hard to change jobs without re-training
