Specialized Cells Flashcards
(7 cards)
Types of Specialized Cells
Sperm Cell, Human Egg Cell, Nerve Cell, WBC, RBC, and Palisade Mesophyll
The function of Sperm Cell
Its head has a nucleus that carries DNA from an egg
Middle has mitochondria for movement
Tail which is used for movement
The nucleus which has a mixture of sperm cell DNA to make a zygote
RER, SER, and Golgi all need it because they are new cells
Function of Human Egg Cell
Cytoplasm all chemical reactions happen here to make new cells
Nucleus has DNA combines with sperm cell DNA to make a zygote
Mitochondria for lots of energy
Function of Nerve Cell
Dendrite has protein to receive messages
Axons proteins in vesicles go to neighboring cells
Cell body uses protein
Lots of Ribosomes , RER, Golgi so they can move them
Function of WBC
The cell membrane will reach out to grab invaders
to eat invaders
Lysosomes Digest invaders
Ribosomes on the RER, sent to Golgi in vesicles, then to the cell membrane.
Make antibodies and get invaders out of the cell.
Function of Palisade Mesophyll
Chloroplast trap sunlight and water for photosynthesis
Large central vacuoles stores water (used in photosynthesis)
Cell Wall Maintains structure
Function of RBC
Contain the protein hemoglobin that carries oxygen.
Shape provides a large surface area compared to their volume which makes for efficient absorption of oxygen.
