Speed and Velocity Flashcards
(8 cards)
What is the definition of Speed?
The rate of change of position of an object in any direction.
What is Average Speed?
The average speed is the total distance traveled by the object at a particular time interval.
Also, Distance/Time= A.S.
What is Instantaneous Speed?
Instantaneous Speed is the speed of an object at a specific moment in time.
- Limit of the average speed as the time interval approaches zero.
What is the definition of Velocity?
Velocity is the speed of something in a given direction.
How is speed calculated?
Speed = Distance/Time
What units is speed calculated or measured in?
Speed is measured in distance traveled per unit of time, and is the metric speed in meters per second.
Difference between speed and velocity?
Speed is how fast something is moving and Velocity is how fast and in which direction something is moving.
What’s the formula for Velocity?
Formula for Velocity:
Velocity = Distance/Time
