What does ‘Bio’ refer to?
Life and the portion of earth where life is found
What are the spheres of the Earth?
Atmosphere, hydrosphere, lithosphere, biosphere
What does ‘Geo’ refer to?
Ground, made of rocks, minerals & soil
What does the biosphere extend into?
High into the air and below the surface into the ocean
How does an earthworm interact with soil?
Digests soil, breaking it into smaller pieces
What process do plants use to convert CO2?
Absorb CO2 from the air and convert it to chemical energy
What happens to rocks during river erosion?
Rocks on either side are eroded, creating sediment
What does ‘Atmo’ refer to?
Air, made of gases surrounding the earth
What are the primary gases in the atmosphere?
Mostly Nitrogen & Oxygen
What occurs when waves collect atmospheric oxygen?
It becomes dissolved oxygen in the ocean
What does ‘Hydro’ refer to?
Water, including all Earth’s water (surface, underground, in air)
What is the cryosphere?
The frozen portion of Earth, including glaciers & sea ice
