ASIA A
Complete: No motor or sensory function preserved below the level of injury
ASIA B
Incomplete: Sensory, but no motor funciton preserved below neurological level
ASIA C
Incomplete: Motor function is preserved below the neurological level, and more than half of kep muscles below the neuro level have muscle grade of less than 3
ASIA D
Incomplete: Motor function is preserved below the neuro level, and at least half of key muscles below the neuro level have a muscle grade 3 or higher
ASIA E
Normal: Motor and sensory function are normal
Spinal Precautions
- No turning, twisting, or bending
- In supine, pillow under knees
- In side-lying, pillow between knees
- Log roll in bed with pillow between knees
- Avoid “bridging” up with hips
- Push with arms to get up, do not pull
- Do not cross legs
- No hip flexion greater than 90 degrees
