A

A nerve plexus of sympathetic and parasympathetic neves.

Usually found near an artery and named according to their underlying artery.

Do not enter the sympathetic chain

Pelvic splanchnic nerves

A
  • Originate in S2-S4
  • Supply the pelvic and lower abdominal organs
  • Run through an autonomic nerve plexus- the inferior hypogastric plexus
  • They do not synapse in the plexus- they synapse in parasympathetic ganglia located in the walls of target organs
