Q

Somatic motor (Efferent limb, outgoing)

A

Voluntary body movements in response to incoming stimuli, >interneuron –> motor cell body within the ventral (ant.) horn –> ventral root –> out through spinal nerve, cell body located in ventral (ant.) horn

Q

Where do the nerves exit out in the vertebral column?

A

Generally: one spinal nerve for each spinal vertebra and the spinal nerves exit through the intervertebral foramen of its numbered vertebrae and the vertebrae below it.

Q

How are the nerves in the cervical spine different? in the way they exit

A

*there are 8 cervical nerves that exit and they do so above their respective vertebrae (ie. 1st cerv nerve exits ABOVe the 1st cerv nerve)

***EXCEPTION: 8th cervical spinal nerve exits btwn the C7 and T1
