Q

How do you know when additional documentation is needed for an accommodation request?

A

If the student’s current documentation doesn’t justify the barriers (to access or participate) that the accommodation would remove. You are looking for consistency in the functional limitation. Functional limitations > not fear or discomfort

Q

Should you automatically bring up information release forms to students or parents? (FERPA)

A

No. You should only do so if the student inquires about it. It should be the student’s choice, and we don’t want to add any additional pressure or have the parents apply pressure for the student to sign off.
