Collaboration
arrangement between 2 or more agencies with mutually established goals and are working together to meet them
Coordination
involves joint activity, but it allows individual organizations to maintain their own set of goals, expectations, and responsibilities.
Partnerships
contractual relationship between 2 or more parties. Each party has stated responsibilities and rights.
Communication:
sharing of information that does not require any joint activity
Networking:
meeting others and exchanging information, contacts and experiences for professional purposes
Participation:
two or more people working together for a mutual goal, take part in something, most often voluntary; spiritual aspect always voluntary

Food Voucher:
piece of paper that the client brings to a grocery store to purchase food; emergency assistance
Clothing Assistance:
Sustaining assistance, usually in the form of a voucher; a form that a client brings to a thrift store purchase clothing items
EDS:
Emergency Disaster Services: emergency community response services//flood, fire, homeless
Sympathy:
giving cliché responses, feelings of pity or sorrow for someone else’s misfortune
Compassion:
the deep feeling of sharing the suffering of another in the inclination to give aid or support to an individual or family
Empathy:
process whereby one person attempts to see the world through the eyes of another person, and communicate that understanding.
Love:
helping neighbor with God-like love; called to help and love in Christ-like manner; origin of social ministry:: OT (Righteousness, justice, mercy and love); NT (Teaching of Christ and His followers)
Positives of Working Together:
Positives :: (a) secure funding, (b) not duplicate services, (c) generate support and quiet criticism and (d) coordinate on individual-basis.
Brokering:
linking a client to a needed resource; it involves knowing what resources are in your community and the requirements and eligibility for the program.
Case management
organizes, coordinates, and sustains a network of supports and activities to optimize the functioning and well-being of people with multiple needs.
Program Personnel (Fear the fear….):
Those who don’t take seriously the ‘managerial’ element of their officer role re: employees/volunteers/lay folk:
• Lose a lot of time trying to fix problems
• Lose a lot of credibility
• Lose a lot of energy
• Mediocre to poor results in ministry

What is Bridging the Gap:
A free life – skills program for at-risk and high-risk youth ages 12-17 years designed to educate youth on resources and tools needed for them to make better decisions for themselves and ultimately attain a more promising future.
Group Stages:
(not linear; end starts @ beginning w/ termination)
• Beginning: form relationships
• Middle: work completed, relationships, confrontations
• End: Mission accomplished, terminate, maintain goals w/out group
