Interesting tid bits: Citalopram(celexa) can cause qtc prolongation in dosages greater than 40mg/day. Get a baseline EKG.
Fluoxetine
Whats Brand Name: Prozac
Usual Adult dosage range: 20-80mg/day
Rate/Frequency of increase: 10mg/day after several weeks
Half life: 4-6 days fluoxetine and 9 days for norfluoxetine which is its metabolite
Interesting tid bits: Fluoxetine due to it’s long halflife requires 5 weeks washout before starting MAOI. More likely to cause activation, apeptite suppression, insomnia.

Rate/Frequency of increase: increase by 10mg a day q week

Interesting tid bits: Really short half life. Must taper off at 25% a week for doses greater than 30mg. Inhibits 2d6 enzyme.Can be used for menopauses hot flashes
