Describe serotonin syndrome?

A

Hyperthermia, confusion, myoclonus, CV collapse, flushing, diarrhea, seizures (First aid)
Class: increase 5HT1A receptors in midbrain central grey

How do you get serotonin syndrome?

A
  • First Aid: Anything that increases serotonin: SSRI, MAOI, TCA
  • Class: also amphetamine/NMDA, LSD, buspirone, L-Tryptophan
