6
Q

investigating charge by friction

A

1- take a polythene rod hold it at its centre and rub the ends with cloth

2- suspend it but don’t touch the ends

3- take an acrylic rod and rub with another cloth

4- without touvhing any ends, bring each end of the acrylic rod to the ends of the polythene rod

5- record any motion (attraction or repulsion)

6- repeat with different materials of rod (keep polysterene)

10
Q

what happens when insulating materials are rubbed against each other

A

they become electrically charged, and the charges remain on the insulators and cannot immediately flow away (so one becomes positive and one becomes negative)
