Statistics and Probability Flashcards
Mean
average value of parameters
Median
midpoint of the variables
Variance and standard deviation
concerned with quantifying how mucgh the parameters vary from the mean value
Calculate the mean and median of the following numbers:
4100, 4700, 4200, 20000, 4000
Mean = 7400
Median = 4200
Cumulative Distribution Function (CDF)
Captures how a parameter varies over a range of values. Calculates the probability of getting a value less than or equal to a defined value. Obtain this with a histogram
Histogram
A data model that outputs data in the form of bars of differeing heights. The more vertical the bar the higher the value.
What are the two kinds of random variables?
1) Discrete variables - integer numbers
2) Continuous variables - any number
Binomial Distribution
Problem like flipping a coin (heads or tails).
P(x) = (n x)p^xq^(n-x)
What are the different probability distribution types?
4
1) Normal
2) Gaussian
3) Exponential
4) Uniform
