Status Epilepticus

What is the management of status epilepticus?

Answer 1

Open and secure the airway
Oxygen
IV access, take blood 
IV bolus: Lorazepam 4mg. Give second dose if no response after 10-20 mins.
Thiamine if alcoholism or malnourishment
Glucose 5-mL 50% IV 

If seizures continue, phenytoin infusion
Continuing seizures after 60-90mins: either propofol/midazolam/thiopental sodium infusion.

Dexamethasone: 10mg IV if vasculitis/cerebral oedema possible
