7
Q

What is the process of applying Electrodeposition prime paint?

A
  1. Preparation of the surface
    A. Cleaning the metal surface (steal, aluminum, or other alloys) throughly removing any contaminates like (oil, dirt, rust, and grease). This is done usually using a combination of acid baths or ultrasonic cleaning ensuring proper adhesion.
  2. Pre-Treatment
    A. Cleaned metal surface makes for a better adhesion and corrosion resistance.
  3. Electrodeposition bath: the bath contains an Aqueous solution of paint, usually a mixture of resins and pigments suspended in water, along with ions that can be electrically charged.
  4. Electrical current application: an electrical current is passed through the bath resulting in a negative electrode.
  5. Deposition: paint particles, negatively charged, are attracted to the positive metals. This results in a uniform even surface of primer.
  6. Rinsing
  7. Baking
  8. Quality control

Q

What are the benefits of Electrodeposition paint?

A

This process is highly efficient, ensuring coating is both durable and cost effective for the end user.

  1. Uniform coat: provides an even coat across a complex service body like the Knapiede, ensuring the hard to reach areas are well protected.
  2. Corrosion Resistance: protects against rust and corrosion.
  3. Efficiency: consistent quality across entire body.
  4. Environmental benefits: E-coat is a water based, reducing solvents and volatile organic compounds waste.
