What are stem cells?
Und differentiated cells that have not got specialised to perform a certain function
What are the three things stem cells are found in?
Embryos ,bone marrow and plant meristems
What can plants stems be used for?
Improving food security, producing crop plants with special features and protecting rare species.
Where is the meristem tissue found on a plant?
Found at the tips of the roots of the plant
What can meristem tissue be used for?
It can be used to make clones of the parent plant and protect endangered plants from execution.
What are the uses of stem cells?
Stem cell treatments, plant clones, therapeutic cloning.
Stem cells are used in cloning. Why must we use stem cells, rather than normal cells to clone an animal?
Stem cells are undifferentiated cells meaning they differentiate into any kind of cell. By using the stem cell we can use cloning techniques such as replacing the stem cells genome to ensure that the entire cloned animal contains only the desired DNA.
How could stem cells be used to help treat diabetes or paralysis?
Stem cells may be used to replace the damage cells that caused diabetes or paralysis
