A
- diarrhoea
- constipation
- GI irritation and bleed

what causes diarrhoea in stoma care
A
- sorbitol
- mg+ antacids
- iron in pt = ileostomy

what can cause constipation in stoma care
A
- opioids
- Ca+ antacids
- iron in pt = colostomy

what causes GI irritation + bleed in stoma care
A
aspirin + NSAIDs

what can diuretics and/or laxatives cause
A
dehydration which can cause hypokalaemia

tx of hypokalaemia as a s/e of diuretics/laxatives
A
- use K+ sparing diuretics or k+ supplements
- liquid form k+ preferred to MR

what can fluid and Na depletion cause
A
hypokalaemia which then increases digixon toxicity
