What’s is a HDD (magnetic hard disk drive)
A hdd is the most common form of secondary storage within computers.A read/write head moves nanometres above the disk platter and uses the magnetic field of the platter to read or edit data
What does it mean if somethings obsolete in iCT and what’s an example?
An obsolete means no longer used and a type of magnetic storage that’s obsolete is a floppy disk which have been replaced by solid state devices
What’s another type of magnetic storage that’s still used?
Magnetic tape because it has a high storage capacity
What does optical storage use to read data and how does it do it?
Uses a master to project beams of light onto a spinning disc , allowing it to read data from a CD,DVD or blu ray
Why are solid state storage devices replacing HDDs?
They are quieter , faster and use less power
What’s another type of ssd?
A USB flash drive (USB stick) used to transporter files easily because of small size
