What is Condition White?
Asleep, unprepared and unaware of your surroundings. You may be in danger but not realize it.
What is Condition Yellow?
Being aware of your surroundings, but more relaxed.
What is Condition Orange?
Your interest has been aroused, may or may not be a threat. You become alert to the possibility of a deadly threat in your immediate environment.
What is Condition Red?
Threat is active. You have decided to act the instant the threats behavior warrants an immediate response. Fight or flight response activated.
What is Condition Black?
The threat has tripped a final trigger. You must immediately become aware of your surroundings. You may have to defend yourself or another innocent.
What are all of Cooper’s Colors?
White, Yellow, Orange, Red & Black
What is good stress called?
Eustress
What is bad stress called?
Distress
Traumatic events are:
Shocking and emotionally overwhelming situations that may involve actual or threaten death, serious injury, or threat to physical integrity
PTSD is:
An anxiety disorder that can occur after someone experiences a traumatic event that casued intense fear, helplessness, or horror
How is PTSD caused?
From personally experienced traumas or from the witnessing or learning of a violent or tragic accident
Two types of therapy for PSTD are:
Cognitive Therapy and Exposure Therapy
What is Cognitive Therapy?
Identifying thoughts about the world and yourself that are making feel afraid or upset
What is Exposure Therapy?
Talking about your trauma repeatedly with a therapist and taking control of your thoughts and feelings about trauma
