What is the Bible?

A

It is a library or collection of books
It has a two-part structure: The Old Testament and the New Testament.

What is the Old Testament?

A

It contains books written before the time of Jesus. The first five books e.g Genesis and Exodus are shared with the Jewish faith.
Jesus was Jewish and so were his followers so they all would have respected what we now call the Old Testament.

What are literary forms?

A

The bible is written by many different authors at different times, so in order to read the Bible properly it is important to understand who wrote it, why and when they wrote it e.g letters, law and history

How might this change a Catholics life?

A

Catholic’s will read the Bible and understand it in terms of when and who it was written by. This allows them to accept the truth of the Bible and the truth of scientific theories like the Big Bang and evolution.
