Q

Significance of French and Indian War
Changes in colonial attitude

A

They were confident that they fought in the war and were better than British regulars. Redcoats vs colonists, redcoats treated them terribly because they weren’t seen as Englishmen. Weren’t so sure that they didn’t like the heirarchy that the redcoats were treated. No more enemies heading west.

A

Pontiac’s Rebellion 1763-66. British prices weren’t as good as French after their patron was kicked out of the continent. Pontiac leads a group of rebellions, attacking French, now British forts, in this period. Ottawa believe that if they can mount a good defense, the French will come back and mount with them. Attacks kill 2,000 colonists and give gifts of blankets with smallpox, biological warfare, use military force to subdue the rebellions. Convinces they need to keep troops in the region so they won’t be moving west.
