Studies/Trials Flashcards

1
Q

(TAP) Treatment of ARMD with photodynamic therapy trial.

What was the objective and conclusions?

A

To evaluate verteporfin(visudyne) OPT in the management of subfoveal CNV with some classic characteristics.

Visudyne OPT is recommended for subfoveal, predominantly classic CNV.

Q

(BVOS) Branch Retinal Vein Occlusion Study

What was the objective and conclusions?

A

Evaluate the role of photocoagulation in prevention of VH and neovascularization

Grid pattern laser in eyes with a BVO of 3-18 months with VA of 20/40 or worse and FA documented ME without foveal hemorrhage.
Perform PRP if retinal neovascularization develops especially if > or= 5 DD of non perfusion.

Q

BRAVO study

What was the objective and conclusions?

A

To asses the safety/efficacy of ranibizumab(lucentis) in ME secondary to a BRVO

Ranibizumab is safe and effective in BRVO

Q

CVOS central vein occlusion study

What was the objective and conclusions?

A

To evaluate pts with a CVO for: 1. Course of perfused vs nonperfused(>10 DD of nonperfusion) 3. Does early PRP Prevent NVI. 4. Is Early PRP more effective than delayed PRP at preventing NVG

No benefit of early PRP in nonperfused so wait for first signs of NVI
No benefit from focal for ME after CVO
PRP for any NVG or 2 clock hours of NVI in nonperfused.
