Study Guide for exit exam Flashcards
(33 cards)
What is the independent variable?
A variable that we choose to Change.
What is the Dependent Variable?
A variable that is effected, that we measure
What is the Constant Variable?
A variable that is not changing (stays the same in control and in all the trials)
What is the Experimental group?
A group were it has an independent variable that changes a factor.
What is the Control Group?
The group that in which the independent variable is not changed (the original).
True or False:
Cold exists
False
True or False:
Solid is idle but vibrating.
True
What State of matter has more kinetic energy than others?
Gas
What state of matter has a intermediate amount of kinetic energy?
Liquid
What State of matter has the least amount of kinetic energy and only vibrates?
Solid
True or False: As the amount of Heat changes the amount of Kinetic energy changes.
True
True or false: If a substance has a low amount of heat it has a low amount of Kinetic energy.
True
True or False: If a substance has more heat it causes the amount of Kinetic energy to decrease.
False
True or false: If a substance has a low amount of heat then it has more kinetic energy.
False
What matter slides past other molecules and not fixed?
Liquid
What matter is moving freely?
gas
What matter is tightly packed, fixed, and only vibrates?
Solid
What is Radiation?
Heated air molecules moving in waves. Can move through space
What is Convection?
Heat movement fluids that are circling constantly.
Independent Variable
The variable chosen to change (X axis) To see what changes after the experiment.
Dependent Variable
The variable that changes based on the independent variable (Y axis)
Constant
the things that don’t change between the control and the experimental group.
Kinetic energy
the amount of molecular movement in one place.
Temperature:
The average amount of kinetic energy in a substance
